Fundamentals of Disaster Preparedness Class
Disasters don't plan ahead, but you can! Learn how you can prepare for a disaster in this fun and interactive course.
About the class
Despite advances in science and technology, we continue to be plagued by the threat of natural and human-made disasters. We recognize that while local, state, and the federal government are keenly interested in supporting their respective communities before, during, and after a disaster, their resources are limited. Disaster preparedness is the responsibility of every individual and it starts on a personal level. Our mission is to help mitigate disasters and increase community resilience starting with education and awareness at the individual and family level. Our comprehensive one hour disaster preparedness curriculum assists individuals and families to recognize their role and responsibility to be prepared for potential disasters, along with how to begin taking the next steps towards preparedness.
Our curriculum is based on the guidelines and standards set forth by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). It is an introductory approach to performing a risk and hazard assessment, how to receive important emergency alerts and notifications, how to create a family communication plan, how to assemble a disaster kit, as well as considering the special and unique needs of individual families. Combined with our line of custom emergency and disaster products we educate, prepare, and equip individuals and families to be ready to handle man-made and natural disasters.
